About Lauryn
Dr. Lauryn Holloway (she/her) is a proud Oakland native who is passionate about creating safe spaces that allow individuals to thrive. As a longtime educator and community advocate, Lauryn has served her community by occupying various roles, including licensed mental health clinician and higher education administrator.
Dr. Holloway began her career journey focused on community mental health and providing support for children and families in nonprofit and public school settings. Noticing the systemic barriers that low-income and marginalized communities face, she conducted research alongside the University of California, San Francisco to better understand the needs of the community as well as the impact of institutions and systems.
Dr. Holloway currently works at the University of California, Berkeley, and is an adjunct professor at Santa Clara University. She has served in several leadership roles at the UC Berkeley campus. Lauryn has actively facilitated and engaged in strategic initiatives that advance the values of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. At UC Berkeley she has served as a chair for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics’ Equity Inclusion and Diversity Task Force, was a presenter at the campus wide professional development Next Opportunity at Work (NOW) Conference in June 2019, and participated in the Chancellor’s Undergraduate Student Diversity Project to improve the campus climate and experience for students.
